Modeling Population Dynamics in Changing Environments
نویسنده
چکیده
Discrete replicator dynamics view evolution as a coordination game played among genes. While previous models of discrete replicator dynamics do not consider environments that respond to the mixed strategy that a population plays, our model incorporates a feedbackbased payoff matrix, which depends on the frequency distribution of alleles. In this model, we construct an environment that is composed of multiple environments with different Nash equilbria. We look at whether the population dynamics converge or whether they exhibit a different behavior, e.g. whether they oscillate and form a stable limit cycle. We provide evidence that with only two Nash equilibria, i.e. two environments, the system will always converge to a fixed point along the line a + b = 1. With three Nash equilibria, although we were unable to construct a cyclic behavior, we conjecture that it is possible. Finally, with four Nash equilbria, we give evidence that it is possible for the system to form a stable limit cycle.

متن کاملComplex Population Dynamics in the Real World: Modeling the Influence of Time-varying Parameters and Time Lags
We propose a class of complex population dynamic models that combines new time-varying parameters and second-order time lags for describing univariate ecological time series data. The Kalman filter and likelihood function were used to estimate parameters of all models in the class for 31 data sets, and Schwarz’s information criterion (SIC) was used to select the best model for each data set. Us...
متن کاملDynamics modeling and stable gait planning of a quadruped robot in walking over uneven terrains
Quadruped robots have unique capabilities for motion over uneven natural environments. This article presents a stable gait for a quadruped robot in such motions and discusses the inverse-dynamics control scheme to follow the planned gait. First, an explicit dynamics model will be developed using a novel constraint elimination method for an 18-DOF quadruped robot. Thereafter, an inverse-dynamics...

متن کاملModelling of Cylindrical Contact Theories of Hertz and JKR for the Manipulation of Biological Micro/Nanoparticles
This paper deals with the development and modeling of cylindrical contact theories and also the simulation of contact forces to be applied in the manipulation of various biological micro/nanoparticles by means of the AFM. First, the simulation of contact forces in four environments has been carried out, which are the most commonly used fluid in biomanipulation. Then, the spherical and cy...
